Does anyone remember the saying that "chrome doesn't get you home"?

Back when most H-D's came with OEM polished parts everyone (that could afford chrome) was spending the bucks pulling parts and getting them chromed.

I didn't have the time or the money to do all of that but when H-D started building bikes with more chrome (and selling accessories) the race was on for most of us.

I still like chrome!
My wife had black wheels on her car and they're harder to clean (and keep clean) that are chrome wheel and I'm too old to change now.

This is my '07 Ultra, I picked it up cheap, ran fine but looked like it lived outdoors mostly. All powder coating done be me in my garage(minus wheels, bars and frame). Just installed some Andrews 48 cams, rocker lockers & manual chain adjuster. Its getting a new vivid black paint job(the original color, also tackling it myself), adding extended bags and bad dad fender. If you haven't noticed I also did a swingarm upgrade to later '09-Up so I can run 180 tire out back. Exhaust and heat shields are blacked out as well. It may not look like it, but I plan on riding this in 30 days :-O

What bars are you running?

wow, there are so many nice bikes in the thread, both chromed out and blacked out.

I really like both looks, and even a combination works, although I have a lot of chome, still need some black to offset. The Red Hot Sunglo speaks for itself!

I went with a combination of black and chrome. It took me a couple years of changing things to achieve the look I was after. I’m finally happy with it. I still have a Corbin seat on order but other than that I think I’m done.

Yep. But I'm still a chrome *****. The only reason I didn't buy a 2018 CVO Street Glide is because of the blacked out look and/or the ugly color choices.
