Default Installing heated grips - 2011 Tri Glide

Hello everyone;
I am thinking of installing the H-D heated grips and I have a few questions:

1. Do the fancy styles of Harley's heated grips heat as good as the plain ones?

2. Are the 2011's pre-wired for the heated grips on the throttle side?

3. Do you have to drill into the bars?

I have seen the installation instructions for these and they are pretty confusing, skipping around for different models.

Any tips, and shortcuts?

Thanks for any and all replies!!

Also....... Does the left side wiring go outside the bar or inside (on 2011 models)?

Can somebody, who has installed these on a 09-13 Touring model,
give me a hand???

I am a fixed income cancer patient, and cannot afford to pay the dealer $150.00 to install these!!

Thank you!!!

I installed the Heat Demons. Factory look, easy install, and priced right.

might be best to just let the dealer do it... it will cost ya but they have the right tools and know whats involved and expected...i had factory grips replaced ( much easier if wiring is already in place ) by dealer recently... one wanted 300 labor... the other 125... so get a couple estimates and just be done with it

Thanks for the mention!
These are mine, the LH wires down the outside along the clutch cable/line wire to the RH looks to be either inside or out as you choose. I do not know your ability but I thought it was pretty easy as I tore mine down slide one grip on and decided I like my billet grips looks more than the warmth

The right side should already be wired for the heated grips. You will have to remove the present grip and install the heated one. There will be a plug in the end of the twist grip sensor where you will plug the heated grip into.

The left side you will remove the present grip and install the heated one. Yes, the wires will run inside the handle bar. You will need to send a piece of mechanics wire up the handle bar from the center and attach to the heated grip wiring. You just may find this is easier if you remove the handle bars. There will be a plug in for the left side grip for power and another to connect to the right hand side. The instructions for the grips should show these connectors. The wires aren't very hard to get through the bars it's just going to be a pain without removing the bars in my opinion.

Received my grips Part# 56100257 On the 2011 touring models, does the connector from the right grip go through the bars and out the opening, or do I have to pull the twist grip sensor out of the handlebars? It would be nice if I could just plug the left and right grips together inside the fairing. It looks like the 14 and up models have the twist grip sensor plug already routed through the bars and out by the radio.

I would like to have all my ducks in order before tearing everything apart.
