Default What to do with Wheels

I have a question regarding the cast wheels on my 05 Road King Custom. I bought this bike used last year from the local dealer and notice that the finish is flaking off the wheels and the chrome edges are peeling off. Short of taking them off and powder coating or replacing what can me done to them. I am thinking of two different routes and would like opinions on those two or suggestions on others. 1) I clean the wheels and tape off the chrome center hub and edges and shoot with some wheel spray paint (which I have done on cars and it holds up and looks pretty good) or 2) should I take my rotary tool with a polishing paddle to remove the rest of the flaking finish and leave it bare??

Peeling chrome is infamous for dealing with, it's also a challenge to remove! With my non-chrome cast wheels it was simple enough to get them cleaned and painted, which transformed them. Dealing with that chrome would stump me at present, so it will be interesting to see what others come up with.

I would buy a set of take off wheels and bypass all that aggrevation.

You can do that 50 times or you can do it once. Either have them re-chromed or powder coated. Once and done.

Or.... you can go to a wheel exchange and buy your wheels chromed or chromed/painted, julst to name a couple of options. I would have gone that route but decided I wanted a different style wheel.
