That's good advice on a tapered roller bearing but that's not what is on the rear of a H-D. The only thing that is getting torqued is the axle and nut.
Bad technical advice, but to each his own... I prefer to put the proper torque on the wheel bearings.

FWIW, for those with SG's or anything with rear shocks 12½" or less can do axle removal and re-install without special tools.
With the bike on the ground, place a towel over the muffler near the axle and loosen the nut with a 36mm socket. Then jack the bike up and remove the nut the rest of the way using the small 36mm wrench in the bike's tool kit, or by hand if loose enough. To re-install reverse this.
To remove the axle you will need to loosen the left muffler and push it down slightly to remove the axle. This is easy with 12" mufflers, barely doable with 12½", but likely not possible with 13" shocks without dropping the left muffler. When knocking out the axle make sure the cam is at its shortest point as it passes over the muffler.
