Older Street Glide

Older Street Glide
I have a 2007 Street Glide. I have it just the way I want it, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Problem is, it's 11 years old now, and everyone keeps asking when I'm gonna get a newer bike. Truthfully, I really don't care for the newer bikes. I'm not a fan of the latest gadgets on the newer bikes. I started riding in the mid 1960's when most bikes didn't even have turn signals! So my Street Glide with radio and CD player seems pretty modern to me! Everyone thinks I'm riding a "dinosaur" because my bike is 11 years old. When did an 11 year old, perfectly fine motorcycle become a "dinosaur" anyway? I'm gonna be 67 this summer, so this bike is probably a keeper. But why does everyone make you feel like you're missing out by not buying something newer? I know the dealers want you to upgrade, but my buddies act like I'm crazy for not wanting the latest/greatest. My question is.....how many of you ride an older bike and have no intention of getting a newer one?

I have a 2012 Ultra Limited that I just traded for and plan on keeping it a long time. Paid cash for the difference when I traded in a 2012 Heritage. In as far as your 2007, enjoy it and keep it just as long as you want. If you don't want or need all the newer gizmos, then that is fine too! Maybe your friends razzing you about getting a newer model just might want to justify in their own mind "why" they have a newer bike as well if all their friends, including you, have a newer bike too!!! (and maybe a NEW monthly Harley payment too!!!)

Well sir I ride a 07 that I bought new and have no plans to trade up any time soon, so I guess I fall into the "dinosaur" category as well. With that being, keep your hard earned money in your pocket and watch your buddies **** their's away on new doodads.

I know.
People can't believe my bike is a 2000.
If I were you, I'd just enjoy that 07.
Throt by wire, GPS's, O2 sensors, it's all just
too much. Plus full on touring is over 900 lbs now.
The only real advantage I see is that 6th gear. It would be
nice on the freeway.
After riding 4 sp Shovel's for years, even the 5 sp seemed
hard to get used to.
I'd still love to have one geared just like the old 4 sp with a
(TALL) O/D 5th gear added.

2008 Ultra that I just stripped to a SG style and put new bars on. It is exactly what I want. 103, cams, and tuned pushing almost 100hp, Got 60K+ on it and I ain't looking at nothing.
The only thing I might consider is that Sportster Roadster. That little 1200 S.O.B. looks fun. But I love mine.
