I do believe starting in 2006 they were in the muffler and in 2010 they moved it to the head pipe

If you limit to only the Touring line of bikes, you have to then break it down by engine and EFI or Carb. A good rule of thumb is that Delphi EFI equipped Twin Cam engine got a cat in the head pipe in 2009 based on what market the bike was designed to be sold in. If you include the Carb.model Twin Cams then they got mufflers with Cats in the muffler starting in 2006 as I recall. Again this is based on what market the bike was built for.

A great reason to buy the bike you want, and go with V&H Power Duals.

pretty easy removal.

Mark and cut with a cutting wheel

Start to clean, using dremmel with a 1" metal chisel blade

Mr. Cole nailed it!
To go a step further, regarding Touring Bikes. In 2009, CVO Touring Bikes, California Touring model had Cats in the headers.

In 2010, all Touring models received Cats in the Headers.

Lastly, IF your bike is a 2009 model year touring bike. May I suggest looking at Fullsac "D" X-Pipe Header.

Thanks everyone for the response to my original question.

If I have this right...lets say I bought a 2009 non-CA Electra Glide UC and swapped out the muffler from a 2010 then I would have a clean system. No cat head pipe nor muffler, correct?
