Unhappy Hard Starting When Cold

I have a 11 FLHTC with a little less than 23k on it. This morning leaving work wouldn’t turn over and I ended up jumping it. Temperature was 31’. Battery voltage is good. Didn’t have time to work voltage regulator and stator trouble shooting. Bike stays on battery tender when I’m at home. Also noticed the radio comes on by itself. TIA

Didn’t have multimeter with me this am. Once I got it started I checked at home.

Did you check to see what the voltage drops to when you hit the starter? A static battery can show nothing wrong but when put under a load it can just fall flat. I’d assume that you would have noticed other symptoms if the battery was shot but you never know what can happen.

Also noted the initial revolutions are slow and labored even when starting after taking off the tender. If VR and stator check out thinking CPS may be dirty.

I will check tomm it falls off when hitting the starter. Also weird the radio turns on its own. Battery is less than a year old. Also probably get it load tested.

how old is the battery? just because you keep it on a tender, it isn't gonna last forever...

my bike had the same symptoms sans the radio issue and it was the battery. the slow cranking was a giveaway to me. it was slow cranking after fully charging the battery. not sure how old the battery was but it sure wasn't new.
