Default clutch cable and brake line length

Getting ready to pull the trigger on ordering my clutch cable and brake lines for bar swap. I have the measuring but for those that have done it before I have a question regarding length.

How big of an issue is 2 inches too long?

Meaning if I measure and it looks like ordering +4 will work and I order +6 to be certain am I going to have significant routing or rubbing issues down the road?

I am planning to route in stock pattern. Bars are 12" twin peaks but for clutch it looks like going +6 over stock will be better as a 4" measurement appears as tho it will be too tight and cause a significant bend at the bar.

And rerouting for stock is not an option. I have heard this before but I am putting on custom cables so they are getting swapped no matter what.

Thanks in advance.

Its best IMHO to install your new bars and get them where you want them, with the switches and controls on them, then measure for cables etc. It takes longer in time that way, but should give the best finished results.

Yeah that is the process I have been working through. Measured last night but I am just thinking about what actual measurement to order. Do you get just enough, or should you leave a little slack?
The source for mine come in 2 inch increments over stock. So I am wondering if I go one size larger is being 2 inches extra going to cause grief or issues?

An extra couple of inches won't cause you any grief ! It just means the 'cables' will not be 'straight' down to the triple trees, they will have a little 'curve' in them. Extra length is far better then one inch too short !...b.

Actually you can "hide" the extra length inside the fairing so I see no issues at all with 2 extra inches. Rather be safe than sorry.

Yeah I was wondering because sometimes too short will pinch and rub through and sometimes too long can allow it to move where it shouldn't and do the same thing.

I pulled the trigger and ordered last night. Went with 2 longer than what I think will fit so that I have a little more wiggle room.

I have 12" Yaffes. To route the cables as stock I needed +4 brake and + 6 for the clutch.
