That's what I did but in reverse. Kept the Road King and got the Limited. I don't think I will ever part with my Road King. It fits me perfect with 126,000 miles on it so far.

It all depends on what kind of riding you do. The Road King is definitely my go to bike. It's my daily commuter and my preference when it's just me. The limited is for touring, trips and when the Mrs. and I are riding. She doesn't like the Road King any more but if you were the passenger, you would prefer the limited too. Of course with winter, the Limited is nice because of the added wind protection and it has a heated seat as per her request.

As far as tunes go on the Road King, I have a Sena Bluetooth in my helmet. Works perfect for me.

You can't go wrong with a Road King, but if you tour or do any over night trips, do both if you can. The only thing better than having a Harley in the garage is having two!!

can only do one. now anyway.

Thats kind of the answers Im looking for. We do lots of multi night trips, riding 8 hour days. I thought with the tour pak, mama would have the exact same ride as my current limited.

I had a 09 RK and bought a Tour pak with the quick disconnect for it and it was fine for touring. Once we went with the fairing I wouldn’t go back, the Limiteds are just too comfortable.

I love my Road King but if this is the majority of your riding, I'd stick with the Limited. The only real difference between the two if you put a tour pack on the RK is the fairing. Riding 8 hours and day, you will miss the fairing more than you think and the weight in the fairing adds a little more stability on the front end for the highway miles in my opinion. I ride my Road King daily and love it but I wouldn't think twice about it on a trip or all day ride. I'd be on the Limited without hesitation.

Good luck making a decision. I totally understand being only able to do one right now. My advice, be patient and pay off the Limited, then make room in the garage for a second bike.

If those are your goals you'd be better served looking at a Heratiage Softail.
Kings are nice bikes but not all that much different from the limited It's still a big heavy bike and only a bit more manuverable. Also, I guarantee - and this is from both my personal experience and that of friends - that the ride is NOT the same for your passenger, tour pak or not. Nor will it be for you after 8 hours of riding.

I had a blue '13 CVO RK. A cool looking bike with a lot of style. The mailbox windshield, bars and stereo all needs upgraded. I traded for a '15 Limited. I like being able to listen to the FM and WB in addition to the zip drive. The GPS isn't that good but its built in. The heat from the engine is less but so is the power. I'm happy I traded. But that RK was a looker. The weight didn't play into my decision. They are both big bikes. - I say get what makes you happy and if it don't trade it off for something that does.

I have riden many times for multi-day trips... 3-6 days on the Road King, and I think it is extremely comfortable. For those trips, I put on my windshield and tour pak, and have not any problems riding 8-12 hours a day.

Then when I am just gone for the day, I pull my windshield & tour pak off, and have a fun ride with nothing obstructing my view of God's country, except for apes.

I can't image picking any bike over my Road King...... just my opinion.
