Default Rebuild kit

I Have a 97 FLHTCUI currently torn apart. I bought it with 80k miles and 0 maintenance records. While digging into it I found many things barley rigged to hold. I want to rebuild the engine from ground up. Anybody know of a place I can buy a kit from, or am I stuck piecing it together?

Depending on your skill set...you could just buy and S&S or other aftermarket complete motor and be done

bullin: Define "ground up", because that's the kind of money that you're looking at on a "ground up" build....if not more. In that case, a crate motor will indeed save you money. On the other hand, if what you mean by "ground up" is a complete top end build, then there are lots of different options for you for a lot less money, and kits tried and tested by very reliable sponsors here.

There are other complete engine options out there...Ultima for one. I know the newer vesrions of these motors aren't bad ...plus they are about half the price of an S&S motor...most people on the forum will bash them though...that is why I didn't bring them up until now

did you mean to say the newer versions AREN'T bad? otherwise, i'm not seeing this as a glowing recommendation to the op.... not being a smartass here, just not familiar with the ultima engines. i know the rev tech engines have had a hit or miss reputation, supposedly better these days.

Fixed lol. I think the ultima product is better then the rev-tech product. I know a custom manufacturer that uses them exclusively in their builds with no issues

Tell us what you actually plan to do for your ground up build, so we can give you some better advice. If the crankshaft requires stripping and rebuilding with new bearings, that's a pretty expensive job, best done by an expert!

He's apparently not real serious, Gordon.
