YEP! What He Said. Even if the throttle posistion is off by one percent, it throws your whole MAP out of whack. Maybe not enough to notice but JUST SET THE DAMN THING. Jeesh
I agree. It takes about five seconds once the laptop is connected, so why not just do it? The techs at PC told me the 100% was as important.

Agree 1000% Bud and then some. If your doing the 0% why not take the extra 5 seconds and do the 100% throttle position. Because I didn't set mine I almost had a meltdown with the motor. Luckily I had a very good synthetic oilin the motor or it would have never survived that first run with the PCIII. Listen to me, mine was only reading 6% throttle open when it was on idle when it should have been reading 0%. That's huge when you think about it. Seems like a low number but in the upper RPM range it was beyond lean which is where i was when i took it out for a spin after installing the PCIII. Almost Had a 3 mile Island on my hands, funny i rode by there tonight when i went for a ride. Next time I go by there I'll snap a pic.

Ok, so I hooked up the laptop and it was reading 5% throttle when it was just idling. I reset that and it then read 0 so clearly it is something that needs to be set. Next I went to do the full open throttle set - hit the kill switch, left ignition on, opened throttle and set it, but it kept saying the difference between open and closed was below recommended minimums. Tried it 4 or 5 times with same result so I left the bike on and opened it and tried to hit the computer button real quick and got the same message a couple times, but I knewthegirlfriendwas hitting the button either too quick before it was fully open, or it was reading after I had started to let off to keep the bike from blowing up. It was funny as the new pipes are so loud, everytime I would hit it, she would jump out of her skin. We finally got it and the number was 27,600 at fully open. Does that sound about right to any of you that have set it? I think it was about 4,100 at closed. I didn't get to ride last night and it is supposed to rain again tonight - we'll see.

You have to do it with the ignition on and the run switch on if the bike is not running. With the kill switch on, it kills the ignition. Yeah 27,000 sounds about right. I see yours was way off like mine. Mine wasreading 6% throttle on idle, threw my MAP way out of whack. Hang on tight boy when you go for a ride.

Ok, logged some miles tonight. It is running well and cooler, but I am getting small pops on decel - a lot of them actually - usually in lower rpm range. When I let off the throttle doing 80 in 5th, it backed down fine with no pops at the higher RPM's. So...I'm guessing a pop is a backfire which means I'm running a little rich, or at least a little rich in the lower rpm ranges? I got the map from Jamie and I'm sure he sells this package a ton - Rush 1.75, K & N A/C and the PCIII, so it has to be the right map...right? I take it in for the 1k service in 2 weeks (at which point is will have well over 1K miles - thanks dealer that sold me the bike for making such an effort to get me in) and I could ask them to work on it, but I don't feel great about them. Hate to drop more for a dyno this year.

Actually your probably running a little lean in the 0% throttle position. Try changing all 0's to 15's or 20's in the 0% throttle position and see if that eliminates the popping. Should help considerably.

Tater, iclick, and Bryan, I really appreciate your posts and help with the PCIII. Ok, so I have changed a number of the 0 throttle settings from 0 to 5, 10, and 15 and I am getting hardly any popping now - much better. I'm still a little confused though - should I just set them all at 15 from 0 RPM's to 6200 rpms. Could I screw anything up doing that? I know it's a lot to ask, but if anybody has there 0 throttle setting they could post, it would be helpful so I get an idea of what it should look like.

You're welcome. Instead of adding to the 0% values, try sealing the mufflers and tighening them to the pipe more forcefully. Jamie at Fuel Moto said the decel popping issue was from muffler leakage. I used Permatex Anti-sieze compound, have all 0% values set to "0", and I have no popping. Adding fuel to 0% will hurt gas mileage and will be dumping added fuel into the mixture when you don't need it for performance.
