Well, to that you've got to add a little less compression due to H-D's manufacturing standards, the stack height, ie a loose squish.

I'd guess you'd actually be running at 9:1 or less which would beg the question if you actually need compression releases.

I've never run or worked on those models, so specifics ought to come from those who have. But, by old school standards, 9:1 isn't high.

I think I’m either going with cometic .040 gasket and I’m going to try it without the ACR all else fails I’ll put a high tourqe starter in


My ccp is at 183 now and it’s a 96 with the 204 cams and it cranks fine so I think I should be fine going to a 103

If you will remember the old 103 CVO bikes, they didn't have compression releases, I'm running the old CVO 103 script heads with 10.5:1 compression pistons, and I have never had a need for them in the last 9 years, and you don't either, so save your money.

One of two major mistakes those working on a Harley make is short cuts thinking they will save a buck.
Think about it if they did not serve a purpose then why the heck Would Harley make them standard equipment when they went to the 103. Something to give serious though to.

Thank youMy old sporty I had setup at 10.5:1and it never struggled much either but agin it was a sporty

The profile of the cam has a significant effect ... the 204 shouldn't need compression releases

My indy did the same build on my 08 and put the acr's in. I'm happy he did.

I'm not positive but don't the heads need to be machined to accept them? It would be a whole lot easier to do it now while the heads are off than decide you want them later and have to pull the heads again.

Something else to consider. Have your wallet prepared for a new clutch. With the jump in torque and Hp, my indy smoked it on the first test ride. Of course my bike had over 100,000 mikes and may have been due anyway but there was nothing wrong with the clutch before the build.

Speaking of starters I did put the HD 1.4KW starter on my bike by mistake, I thought that my starter was going out so I bought the 1.4 starter. While swapping out the starters, I pulled the tape that I had put on the lug that bolts to the starter, and the wires broke, and the lug came off with the tape. Now I have an 07 starter about 1 year old that has been sitting on a shelf collecting dust for about 9 years. Oh well live and learn, and its a good thing my wife never found out cause money was tight back then, more so than now.

When I pulled my clutch at 92000 miles it looked reall6 good when I was comparing it to the Barnett I installed.... I am prett6 sure I could’ve just gone with a stronger spring but I had the whole thing so it went in...did the baker compensator at the same time.
Grabs really good now.

I’m putting in a Barnett extra plate kit anyways I’m taking the primary off to poemwder coat it plus I think it’s getting due for a clutch anyways
