Default 03 road king classic crusie problem

I have a 03 classic that the ceuise control is starting to act up. It seemed to stem from when I gave it a good bath. Since then the cruise works periododically. I always get the red power light.. the green light is the culprit when I try to set it. It seems if I wiggle the wires/ cable on the right side of the gas tank it will work more often than not. What exactly is that little round plastic piece that two wires connect to. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had the EXACT same issue and both times were after a wash. I wish I was more of a mechanic and be able to help you but I really wouldn't know other than it's definately related to water. The good news is that both times this happened to me, it went away the second ride after the wash and I haven't had an issue since the last one. I'm prob going to sealsome plastic bags over the housing on the next wash and hope to prevent. Hope it goes away for you.

The plastic cover is over the roll off switch. It is built into the throttle cable. Disconnect one of the wires to it and see if the cruise works. If it does, the switch is probably bad. Had the same problem on my ultre. The cable is only 35 dollars or so. The switch is kind of rinky-dinky It gets affected when you move the bars all the way to the left. Seems to stretch it out of the contact zone. Might still be a bad cable, but hard to tell without doing a bunch of tests. The switch cuts the cruise off if you roll off the throttle while the cruise is off. I haven't replaced the cable yet, just remember the roll off doesn't work. Hope this helps out.
