I used it this morning and the PTT switch works great. I will have to see how good the range is when I return home.

Thanks. So good so far. It worked about 75’ from the house as I pulled up. I am really happy with it. Hope this thread helps others considering this.

You have to locate the correct connector in the faring identify the wires you need then remove thosr wires from the connector. You cannot just tap into them. If memory serves, you cannot disconnect all of the wires either. Some of them serve as circuits for other functions.
I was able to use the PTT button to activate a standard door opener but the heat in the faring would affect the opener so I just went to an opener in a windshield bag. Simpler and works better
I used an aftermarket remote with rolling codes that could open 3 different things.
I thought I would update this thread. I found this out as I didn’t look closely enough at the wiring diagram. The PTT position of the CB switch uses a stand alone wire but the SQ- and SQ+ share wires with the Volume switch. Originally I wired the PTT position and SQ-. Both worked fine for the two garage doors they were used to operate but I lost functionality of the Audio position on the Volume button. The Audio position on the Volume button and SQ- on the CB seitch share the black/brown wire. Needless to say I rewired the SQ- position back to normal and am now only using the PTT position.

Nice work!...BUT a lot of work. My "key chain" sized universal garage door opener hangs from my belt on the same ring that holds my HD key fob. Works for me and no need for wiring diagrams or soldering or connectorsd.......more time to just ride. Just never felt the need for my garage door to open like the door of the Batman's "Bat Cave" as I approach....lol.
