Default Mustang Backrest

I've upgrade the seat on my 96 Electra Glide to a Mustang seat, but now I'm looking to upgrade the driver and passenger backrest padding as well. The passenger isn't a problem as there any many options on the website, but the drivers backrest creates a problem. Their website doesn't list any models that fit my 96 Electra glide and only have for 97 up. Currently I got a stock backrest from a 97 installed on the bike, which I made fit. However, a mustang backrest is a little more expensive than a used backrest for a 97 Electra Glide. Has anyone had any experience with installing a 97 Mustang backrest on a 96 or older bike? Can it be done and is it still comfortable? Thank you and look forward to your response.

I am confused but if you are interested in buying one I have a Mustang backrest I am looking to sell. Identical to this one.

It's a mustang seat? The newer seats have the backrest mount built into the seat. Check the hole in the seat for the backrest receiver. If it has it, then you just need the backrest as shown above. If it goes all the way through with no slim receiver in it, then they sell a bracket that mounts to the bike under the seat to accept the backrest through the hole in the seat.

As far as fitment, I'd suggest you contact Mustang and ask them about the bracket.

The seat that I have has a hole that goes all the way through, but according to Mustang's website they do not sell the bracket for a 96. They only sell the bracket for a 97 up. That is the main thing I was asking. If anyone has attempted to use this 97 bracket on a 96 or earlier. I currently have a bracket for a 97 Electra Glide installed, but it is the stock bracket. The stock bracket has multiple mounting holes, whereas the Mustang bracket only has the one set. Thus I'm unsure if it will mount in the correct place for the 96. Was hoping to get some input before biting the bullet so to speak.
