I love mine. Just gotta keep the rpms up where the bike wants to be. I put on herratige handlebars cause I didnt like the carrying a wheelboro feel, and I put on a new tach spedo combo.

Get the Road King Custom, the ride is great. You will probably want to change the handlebars, the stock ones feel like a wheelbarrow not a motorcyle. I had the bars changed and added the passenger backrest before I picked it up. Now I just have to decide what type of stage 1 to put on it, I am thinking TMAT, D&D Fatcat, and the K&N. Good Luck.

Go and test ride some bikes....you can do rentals at some dealers. See what feels good for you and momma!

Everytime I walk into the garage and set eyes on my baby I smile. Passenger Back Rest is a must have....everything else can wait until you break it in a little and decide on what you want.

I have changed out the seat to a Sundowner as many mentioned - momma much happier, as am I (ride a little lower and back). The stock seat does hurt after a few hundred miles on the road. Did 400 miles last weekend on the new seat....felt like I could go another 400 no problem.

Just go find a bike that suits you and momma and then ride the hell out of it and her!!!!

I'm looking at trading in the Night Train for a 2007 Road King Custom in Black Pearl. Is there anything I should know about the bike before I make a decision. THe only things I heard about are heat and transmission noise. What type of noise is this and should I worry about the heat. I never had atouring type bike and I am trying to find something more comfotable for the woman to sit on and for myslef as well on rides a few hours in length.

Thanks for the help. If there is any link I should look at please attach them.
If you're going to want a windshield for longer rides, you might want to consider the RK Classic for the stock detachable windshield. You might want to look around for pics to see the kind of look you can get from a RKC with windshield off and some chrome. But I'm pretty sure you can also add that same windshield to the Custom. You just need to buy some additional mounting brackets.

On my '07 RKC the only transmission noise noise I get is a slight whine in 5th when accelerating. But any Harley has a lot of mechanical noise compared to, say, a Honda. It doesn't bother me at all and just reminds me what gear I'm in.

Just do it and you will not be sorry...you won't even look back. I put a street glide seat on mine with detachable back rest, passing lights, hard bags, wild chubby bars. The only problem that I have at all with this bike is... I can't get this stupid grin off my face since I gotmy RKCustom...

Dircha,

I'm drawn to the Custom because to me it appears to be cleaner then the other two models. I'm 27 and the classic with the white walls just looks to old for me at this time (sorry guys). I also really like the look of the bags on this compared to the standard Road King. I should really be looking at saving money for a house and not spending it on another bike but you guys are making it tough. It looks like I may be back to the single wide again (trailer).
