Default Tour Pack Problems

I have an 2005 Road King with a detachable tour pack. Anyone and everyone who has ridden on the back complains that the tour pack beats up there back. The pack basically punches them in the kidneys. I have replaced the mounting bushings and relocated the pack as far forward over the mounting points as possible. I would like to hard mount the pack but HD no longer offers that options, so I was informed by the local dealership.

Interesting, I have opposite issue on my RK 2017 with King size tour Pack and solo detachable mount and solo sit.
The closest position possible not close enough to be used tour pack backrest to support me, so I installed additional backrest.

Not much information provided.

Aftermarket or factory tour pack?

What type of mount?

Got any pictures?

You say everyone the rides complains. How many people have you ridden on the back? Male or Female? Size & Weights?

I have never heard this before. We have had four touring bikes and my wife falls asleep on the back!

I have to believe you pad or mounting position are wrong.

Check the connection between the tour pak and the passenger backrest pad. Harley had some issues with the connection points separating which caused the pads to flop around. I think there was a tech bulletin on the problem.

Does your tourpack actually have a padded backrest?

Tell them to relax and lean back against the tourpack, it'll be ok. Seriously though, the only way I can see that that it would punch them like that is without body weight against it.

I believe it is an aftermarket tour pack (KingPac is the sticker on the pack)
It has a Harley Davidson quick disconnect.
I do not have any pictures, yet.
I have had three people ride on the back 110 soaking wet, 130ish and a plus size. Nobody likes it! It is not a weight issue and all three are experience passengers with 1,000 of miles on the back of a bike.
The pad is attached to the tour pack, I will look at that next or have cushion added to the pad.
Thanks for the input.

Did you replace the mounting bushings with HD OEM bushings or did you try some of the better custom bushings that folks sell? If you went with OE, possibly try the custom made aftermarket bushings that are out there
