Default Another Andrews 48 Cam Thread

Trying to put together a shopping list for a Cam Change.

2009 Road King Stage 1 with PV 32,000 miles.

I would like to go add cams and do the job myself,

Amazon has Andrews 48H for $211, doubt I can do better than that.

I知 thinking lifters SBC? S&S? Woods? Trying to do this as cheap as possible without risking troubles. What kind and where to buy?

Cam install kit with bearings, where to buy?

Adj Pushrods/ Tubes. What kind and where to buy?

Blind puller from Autozone okay for Job? I知 reading a lot about the blind puller for removal and used cams to install?

The more I read threads on this subject the more confused I get on what route to take. The only thing I知 currently solid on is getting the 48痴 from Amazon.

S&S or Gatorman lifters, S&S or FM/Andrews adjustable push rods, cam install kit which comes with associated gaskets, seals, and internal Torrington bearings. Cam bearing install/removal tools are $100 on Amazon as well

Check fuel moto. Last time I looked they usually have a good deal buying the cams, pushrods and the gasket set which includes the cam bearings

Trying to find the best places to go to put this together on a budget.

1 Andrews 48H - Amazon $211
2. Adj Push Rods - where to buy how much?
3. Cam Kit with Bearings - where to buy how much?
4. Lifters - where to buy how much?
5. Do I need a specialty tool or is rental of a blind puller from Autozone cool?

Just pieced it together on FM website.

A48H Cam, Woods Lifters, FM Adj Pushrods, Kit with Inner Bearings.

All for just over $600... That’s pretty tempting considering everything is top of the line.

If you want to save money skip the ajustable push rods. Just have to take the top apart. Then you have more than enough money to get the bearing puller for the inner bearings.

Gotta have the adjustable’s for the convenience.

Calif Phill? This would be like the Dr. Phil of Harleyville?

Phil has helped me out before:

https://www.harleypartscheap.com/

I installed a couple bikes using a free auto zone blind hole puller and cams. Also went in through the top and prefer this method. However, with the 57's smaller base circle, I ended up using adj's.

Also, the cheapest parts are buying them here and on CL, just have to take your time.

Plus you get their support, which is also top of the line. I bought my PC-V from them almost 6 years ago, no problem getting maps for my cam install over the summer, or subsequent tweak to the map to fine tune.

Good luck with your project, I'm sure you're gonna love the new found power.
