Default Got a new “to me” ride

I picked up an 09 Ultra Classic last week & wanting to change out the stock bars for some apes. I know on the 2016 model, you could go to a 12” without having to replace all the lines. Any idea on the 09 models? I don’t really want to have to tear it open just to check & figured some of y’all surely have already done this lol

I had an 08 Road Glide and was able to get away with 10" apes without adding anything.

I wouldn't let trying not to change out cables and lines get in the way of getting the most comfortable bars you can.

Anything more than 12" you'll probably want to change the cables and wires w/extensions.
Good luck!! Congrats on the bike!

I'm definitely gonna swap out the stock bars for a set of apes, just wasn't sure if I could get away with 12" without new lines & cable. If I gotta change everything out anyhow, I might as well got 14" & be a little more comfortable. Thanks for the help fellas.

I have an 09 electra with 12" bars. The electrical cables will reach no problem. What will be tight is the clutch cable. You can make it work but be it will really be tight. I just went on and changed the clutch cable with a +4 cable. Anywhere between a 65.5 and 67.5 inch will give you plenty of room to route the cable. Your gonna need a new trans gasket, clutch cable gasket and a good pair of snap ring pliers as well. I did this and it cost me less then $50.
