2008 Ultra Classic Electraglide Fairing removal
ok - so i inherited my pops 08 electraglide as he is hanging up the helmet. My bike is a 1200N 2007 which i love the agility of. I took the ultra out for couple hundred miles. I have decided to keep the bike and per his wishes 'turn it into somthing that is more you'. I was told i cant paint it nor sell it which is fine with me. I have built a couple of bikes over the years and wanted to make this a fun project over the winter months.
I am looking to completely remove the batwing fairing and turn into the looks of a road king. I took the fairing off and removed the gas tank. Is there anyway to remove all the wiring without causing major issues?
I know what everyone will say - buy a road king. this bike has 75k miles all from my dad and the bike itself has alot of meaning. just want to modify the looks and the ride to satisfy my comfort.
anyone have any pointers?

Maybe get some quick release stuff and turn it into a Street Glide? You may find that you like the gauges and an occasional tune. I'm not going to say that turning it into Road King is impossible, but it's definitely in the "more trouble that it's worth" category. I have no idea what you'd do with all that wiring.
If you're determined to do it, then buy the service manual, unfold the electrical diagrams, and have at it.

Thanks uncle peepers. I like a challenge so I think I will give it a whirl. Got a wiring diagram. My only real concern if there is any issues with not having the cruise control hooked up? Like will it screw with the electronic throttle control. Will keep researching but I have found what works best is just dig into it and figure out as you go along.

Thanks Jack. Good idea on the RK wire harness. I already have plans for rear fender and plate. That’s the easy part. Also found a headlight nacelle.

That way it is reversible because you're not cutting anything. Or you could just recover the cost of buying a harness on eBay by selling the Ultra harness along with all the other leftover parts. Just make sure you buy one with ABS. I think all Ultras came with it. PM if you have questions, I've done a couple of projects like yours.
