Default Options question

Hello, I recently bought a 2017 Ultra Limited and love it. However I have no clue what options I should have with the bike and software system. A friends bike beeps when shutting off, my lights just flash. I read about traffic in the Boom manual, I can't find it. Oil pressure says "OK", no numbers. Etc. Any way I can find out what I should have?
Thanks

Different people have different priorities or preferences. For some, it's comfort (seating, heated grips, windscreen , etc.), performance, sound of the cycle. Some like bling while others hate it. Some people wouldn't ride w/o a cup holder while others may laugh at it. Ultimately, what it comes down to is what you want and what your budget will support.

This forum is a great place to start as is seeing other bikes where they gather in large numbers (hog meetings if you are a member or rallies).

I would expect that information to be in your Owner's Manual. Additional information could be found here.

Your friend's bike beeps when shut off because he has a siren and you don't. Add a siren to your security system and your bike can beep too.

Isn't there a site that you can enter the VIN and see the build sheet?

OP, didn't your dealer go over your bike with you at delivery?
If you have a really good dealer they may have someone in their service department that could help you though I suspect specific questions will get you more information than a general "what will my bike do" question.

Certainly before I went the dealer route I'd get my owners manual and go through it page by page checking what it says against what the bike will do. Most owners manuals are written to cover every option possible for a given model weather your specific bike has all those ootions or not. That way you'll become familiar with your bike and what it will abd wont do, what options you can control, what ootions a dealer can activate, or deactivate, for you and what uogrades are available for you to add,

First welcome from Spartan Country Michigan!
Second... get the factory service manual and the parts manual...two of the best tools you'll own.
next, get a notebook and record all your maintenance, repairs, service, accessories and add ons..... you'll appreciate that info one day.
And Lastly.... know how big your fuel tank is, your mileage, how far you go on a tank of gas, and that you should not trust the gas gauge. I have an app called Fuel Buddy I use religiously and always use the odometer as my fuel gauge. Learn your variances.

Good luck on your decisions... I would spend the winter looking and reading to see what interests you.

You didn't list the year of your friends bike (It makes a difference).

1. Your lights flash when the security system arms (when you shut bike off)

Your friends bike has a security siren installed.
Only the CVO bikes have those from the factory. He either has a CVO bike, or the siren was added after purchase.
You can get one installed on your bike if you want.

2. Traffic requires the option Sirius/XM module and a paid subscription the that service.
Only the CVO bikes have the Sirius/XM module from the factory.
But can be added to yours if you want.

3. Oil pressure screen went to displaying "OK" (I think with the '17 models).

There's a lot you can do to help yourself:

1. Get a copy of the 2017 sales catalogue, if still available. There used to be a small one and a larger one which some dealers were reluctant to give out (in my experience). That may show the standard spec and options available.

2. While 2017 models are still shown on the H-D website, get yourself familiar with what that tells you about the spec for your model.

3. Read your owners manual!

4. Go to the Owners tab of the H-D website and register yourself as the owner of your bike, using your VIN, which as ORradtech points out, will give you the spec for your build.

You "have" everything you need to go for a nice ride. Ride it for a while then find out what you "want".

I'm surprised that when you bought the bike, 1. The salesman didn't do a better job of going over the features and 2. They didn't introduce you to the accessories salesman. Every dealer I have been to has a guy that talks to you after you've agreed to purchase to sell you upgrades, ad ons, and do dads for your bike that they can roll into the sale price.

There isn't anything you "have to have". It's ready to go for many enjoyable miles. Ride it for a while and see what you "want". Personally comfort comes first for me. Do you need a better seat? Better fitting handlebars? Hwy pegs? etc. Second for me is performance. Cams? Pipes? dyno tune? Then last for me and first for too many is looks. There's a million things you can bolt on to change the appearance to suit your likes.

Enjoy your new bike.
