Default Ignition switch alignment tool

Wondering if this would work on a ‘17 RG Special? I removed the switch and cannot align the tumblers to reassemble.

Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Believe the answer is "no". The ignition switch changed somewhere around 2014 and a different tool is needed. I know that the tool I have for my previous 2009 Ultra will not fit my 2017 Road Glide Ultra (which should be the same as your RG), so I bought the new tool.

George's Garage has the new tool (659950) for a few dollars less than I paid, though it's still not cheap:

Note that the older tool George's sells corresponds to the H-D part number shown in the eBay listing above.

I've had to use a long, straight screwdriver to do that alignment job a coupla three times...even when I've kept that tool in place during the job! It's just a matter of hit and miss...I've got the George's Garage version, looks similar to that one.

If you've got misalignment, grab you a cuppa, and that screwdriver, and a flashlight, and suss it out...you'll get 'er done...might take a while, but you will! I've done it, like I say, more than once...

That's the one I bought, and it worked perfectly on my 2017 RGU.

Glad it worked for you but did you try to use a flat screw driver as described above? Works great and you probably already had one in your tool box.

Kyle did you try that tool from Amazon, did it work. I’m having the same issue on my 207 Road Glide the tumblers are out of alignment and forks are locked can’t get the ignition cap back on.
