I use to use a sheet but bikes never sit still long enough. If I had more than 2 I guess I would but why waste money on a cover when you can grab something out of a closet? Then again I do have a Nelson Riggs extra large waterproof/ventilated cover for when I take trips but that is few and far between with my work schedule.

King size 100% cotton sheet for sure. Can be found at the thrift store cheap.
Couple of years ago I bought a "California King 100% Cotton Sheet Set" at the thrift store to cover my Corvette. It fits like it was made for it, even the colors are close! Two corners of the fitted sheet fit under the nose, the other two hook around the mirrors. The flat sheet covers the rest of the top, back, and just drapes the floor in the rear. Easy fold back at the top if I need in the car for anything.
If your bike is going to be covered for very long, you can stretch an old pair of tube socks over your exhaust tips to keep anything out of there that shouldn't be in there, and allows some air flow too.
For large bikes with windshields, the California King Sheet may give you more coverage.

I cover my bike since its in my garage 5 months out of the year. Damn Canadian winters! I've had a few covers over the years and the the one that is my favorite is the Harley Indoor cover (93100018) it fits the bike easily, has drawstrings and a snap connection underneath, but most importantly, is a very soft material that won't scratch and keeps dust out. I have had cheaper covers in the past that felt more like a stiff, course nylon that were a bitch to put on and when I took the cover off the bike was still covered in dust?
This cover is worth the price IMO.
