i went over all the threads multiple times. I tried without, and after smashing my fender and having a horrible ride.....I got the trees, new springs and heavy oil and bump stops. Rides great now.

23" wheel on 2016 Street glide-img_0082.jpg

Run a 23" on mine. Got no rake progressive lowered cartridges and bump stops. Ride and handling is great & can click right along on the road 75-80 with no issues. Thinking about adding a rake kit this winter but still on the fence if really needed

I have rode mine around 1000 miles before I put raked trees on it. I wasn't sure if the price of the trees would be worth it. The ride with the raked trees is way better the using stock trees. I would not do a 23" with out raked trees. Here's mine.

Mandatory no...good idea yes! Like others mentioned ride quality without raked trees is just okay and the bigger issues is you smashing your fender. Get the raked trees and a proper 23" fender and you will be happy with the look and ride IMHO.
