Default super hot muffler tips

I just put a set of Bassani slip on mufflers on my 2017 RGS with M8 and the tips of the right muffler keep bubbling the chrome. After a 15 mile ride at 80 mph the right one measured right at 500 deg with an infrared thermometer. Isn't that way too hot? The left one was half of that. The only other mod done is a screaming eagle hi flow air filter.

M8 has a larger diameter right hand pipe because more exhaust is directed that way. As far as what temps you should see at the tip, I don't have a good number to give you.

I will say though that catalytic converters operate over 1000º.

Thanks for the info. I'm doing some checks I'll post an update when I have more info to share

No tuner as of yet. As soon as I can get the bucks up I'm going to get a SE pro street tuner and get it tuned. I'm sticking with HD products because I have a 5 yr extended warranty and don't want to void it with aftermarket tuner untill the warranty has ran out.

When I saw "super hot" I thought the thread was going to be about "good-looking" hot, not temperature hot.

I think a tuner is required for street cannons starting in 2017. I would get the tuner ASAP if you want to keep that 5 year warrantee.
