When I pulled the throttle body off, this debris fell out of the front cylinder side.

So it was no great surprise when I found this inside.

Taking a little break to watch my daughter cheer at a football game. More to come.

Anybody have any tips for removing that cylinder? I can hardly budge it.

Wow! A mess is an understatement! How does the head look? Time to split the case and see if it's salvageable. You leaning toward the S&S or a used 103?

Whole thing is junk, with that much debris flying around, you'd be foolish to salvage anything in there. Go find a replacement .

Probably the S&S. There is a barely used 103 online that would cost me half and work with all my other current parts, so it's definitely worth thinking about. My worry is that I don't have a good way of verifying its condition and it is not local. If there were a local take off I would have a hard time justifying the S&S.

Another engine I am considering is Fuel Moto's soon to be released 124. Jamie is a great salesman and has been awesome to answer my questions through this process. My biggest stumbling block there is that I assume service of that engine would have to be in Wisconsin, while S&S has dealers nationwide. Also, I am more inclined to the lower compression of the S&S 124LC, or maybe even going with the T111.

Getting time to make a decision.

That's what I'm thinking.

And I'd be buying a take off 103. If I could find a lightly used one from a reputable seller, like a dealer say, I'd be all over it. I'd even consider an ebay seller with a high positive rating. Hell, there's one there right now for about $2750 with 3 miles on it. Seller has over 1000 ratings at 99.9% positive. There's another with 3000 miles for $1700 plus a couple hundred shipping. That seller has 700 reviews at 100% positive. Damn right I'd buy one of those before I spent $5-$7k on an engine.

But that's me, others wants, needs and desires may make that extra $3-$5k worth it...
