No mode up, no audio control
Hello all. I have a very strange situation and I am hoping that someone will have some information. I have a 2004 classic and I just recently bought a radio from Iron cross audio to put in this bike. I purchased a 2006 and later Harman Kardon radio, I installed it and I have no audio control at all and I have no mode up, I do however have mowed down and when you push the mode button in it does what it's supposed to. I have run all the Diagnostics that I can find it comes back with replace radio. So I took another radio which is also remand and plugged it into the 2004 and it did the exact same thing. The other radio I know for a fact works because I took both of these radios and plug them into a 2003 classic and it was Plug and Play it worked great no issues. Called Iron Cross and the guys response was, I don't know what to tell you. Any ideas????

Since the radios work in other bike. It's not the radio. That"s why IC can't/won't help. Did your bike have a radio before you added this one. If so, was there a problem or reason why you replaced it? Wire harness. Switch? Have you tried anything other than part switching? A great after market stereo that's plug and play is the https://www.aquaticav.com/harley/. Good luck

Your troubleshooting technique of swapping radios is valid and shows the radios are working fine and the problem is in the bike wiring. Switching to a third or aftermarket radio won't fix your problem.
Your problem could lie in the connector, switched wires if the plug was rewired, a pin not seated properly or even a broken wire. It could be a bad switch or a broken wire in the harness somewhere.
You need to get a wiring diagram and a DVM and start tracking down the fault.

We have checked, double checked, and even triple checked all the wires to the switches and the radio. The bike did have a radio previous, and the only thing we have not checked is the interconnect harness, I guess that will be the next step. We have tested all plugs to and from the radio, and one other important fact....took the fairing off of my 06 where everything was working properly tested the switches the same way that I was testing on my 04 and now my 06 has the exact same problem. I never plugged that radio into any other bike and now my 06 has the exact same problem.
