a good reason to bring back the "mousetrap" mechanism of the panhead years.

clutch cable breaks, tie a piece of rope to it, or by hand.

the new 2018 clutch cable seems to be a good innovation, but wouldn't help in a snapped clutch cable situation , i guess.

It was easy where I was, Chicago and suburbs, flat land, big grid of side streets.

I broke mine 25 miles from home north of Minneapolis while out in the countryside. I made it almost all the way home (about 7 miles shy) when I finally couldn't time a light. I was soooo close to making the interstate which would have swung right by my place :/

Broke mine on my 77 low rider back in 77. Rode into parking lots , circled till traffic was clear then pulled out and proceeded home. Also started in 1 st with me off seat then sat as it started pulling. LOL Made it home but started changing regularily to prevent recurrence. New cables shouldn't need lubing. People lube and end up causing more issues .

Don't understand how you couldn't shut down the engine either. Kill switch does a fine job, as does the ignition switch.

If I've actually got to stop without a clutch I usually kill the engine as I approach with the stop. I like to be in 1st gear on a bike, or neutral in a car.

For starting, I simply use the starter motor and get it going while lurching along in 1st gear. It's a bit rough on the starter motor, but usually they can do it.

Shifting a bike without a clutch is easy, it's a dog box, so as long as you're not under load, it'll shift easily. Cars and trucks are a little harder and I'll frequently grind a bit trying to match the engine rpm.

I left a dealers parking lot after some service years ago with no clutch cause they never finished the last step of takeing in the slack.... low traffic ride home so just sucked it up,not fun but make the split second decision to just get out of there...

I broke one this spring, same result as everyone else, I timed lights and ran stop signs.
