rookie question
couldnt you remove the shields wrap the pipe with high temp wrap
and put the shield back or how about the cooling fan use on cop bikes

yeah im here also have roasted leg every time i ride my 04 UC....
in a stop, i often move my foot from a point to another point just to avoid the heat....and im sure vehicle rider behind me will say "wtf is the harley rider in front of me doing..?? shake and moving the leg at a stop like a crazy man.....hahahaha...

I had the same passenger hot foot problem and added a the Fullsac dual conversion that eliminates the "Y" pipe from the rear cylinder and that seems to have helped a great deal.
It looks good and sounds better too.

Yea, I think that is my next purchase also. Thats just it, I want to know what I need to fix it, not mask it or cover it up. Last time it ran hot, i used a surface temp gauge and the head was at 650 degrees. Not at the exhaust port, the very top cover. With the temps running that high, you cant tell me the engine is going to last. I just fear that the dmg being caused now from the heat will turn into a long term early death. When it gets that hot, the bike starts to run like ****, almost like the fuel is boiling/evaporating before ignition...

Well, taking it back to the dealer tomorrow, hopefully it will get fixed. I have also started to get oil leaks between the engine and tranny. Heat ****ing with my seals??...
