Hey I'm looking to upgrade my fairing speakers on a 2016 street glide upgraded once to the boom stage 2 still not satisfied. I want to stick with the marine speakers. Looking at getting the 6.5″ Ultra Series Harley Speakers AQ-SPK6.5-4HB. Anyone has this set of speakers or what would you recommend looking for something I can hear very well at highway speed.

 

Speakers are nothing more than air pumps. Their ability to sound louder over another is measured in dB (decibels) and called "speaker sensitivity." Brand 'A' speaker might have a sensitivity of 89 dB while brand 'B' will have a sensitivity of 92 dB, a gain of 3 dB. This is a doubling of available power. What this means is that if both speakers were driven by say a one watt amplifier, speaker 'B' would put out twice the power and be more efficient. If you don't like how a particular speaker sounds then that can be remedied by changing your EQ. Just buy a speaker that is suitable for the rms wattage available from your amp and the appropriate impedence. After that, as I said, loudness is determined by the speaker's sensitivity rating. Don't get caught up in the speaker manufacturer's marketing hype. Even something as simple as adding a windshield could make all the difference in the world to clearly hearing your speakers or not.
