The bigger the motor with similar engine mods the more torque and hp you get, believe what you will but dyno's don't lie.

Go back and read the OP, 103" stage III vs. 88" stage II. The larger motor won, but not by what one would expect with a 17% increase in displacement and more mods.
Yes, gearing is a major factor, but fifth gear pulls should be as fair as you could make it.

X-Factor, has anyone ever consider taking their scoot to the drag strip? That says it all, dyno#, reaction time, best overall speed, best 1/4 mile et.

No bragging rights unless you have your time slip backing it up! Everything else is fictitious IMHO.

Just my two cents bro, nothing personal.

I wouldn't use 6th going only at 60 mph unless it's downhill and definitely won't get on it at that speed.
agreed.. kinda lugging the engine in 6th at 60

Drag increases at the square of speed, so a 17% increase in power does not translate in a 17% increase of performance except maybe off the line when starting from 0 mph.

I have a question about what the OP means when he says his buddy has a "103" stage III". You say there's larger displacement "and more mods," but we don't really know what those additional mods are, do we? When I think of "stage III" I'm basically thinking of a big bore -- i.e., displacement. Is the buddy's "stage III" just a 103" big bore upgraded from the stock 96"? If not, what is it?

The 6th spd tranny is NOT an overdrive transmission. 1 turn input results in 1 turn output. An overdrive trans is 1 turn input results in less than 1 turn output. The rpm of both bikes the older 5 spd and the newer 6th speed will be about the same at 60 mph in their respective top gear.

There is a SE 6 speed overdrive tran available in the parts catalogue.

The reason for the six speed is the first 5 gears assist with getting moving quicker as each is a little lower than before.

You make no mention of the overall gear ratio, its about 10% difference between those two bikes.
