^^ Yes, this... I made that decision with my '09 a few months back when I looked into upgrading. I'll hang onto my '09 (unless there is some unforeseen issue) until it dies or I hang up riding. Same choice on my vehicle. I'll hang onto it until it dies. These manufacturers are creating many of their own issues. $28K for a base Limited...?? Come-On... $60-70K for a new Tahoe... Really. I can afford either, but why...?

Somebody's gotta make their $300+ million in profit for the quarter.

There will be a bunch of repo's in 6 months
sign and drives (rides) move some inventory, but a chunk of that inventory never gets paid for

bank pays dealership, so dealer gets it's money
owner never makes payment and bank pays for repo
bank sells, usually at auction at a loss, the repo'ed bikes
bike end up a low mileage used bike for just a few dollars less than a new one
dealer eventually sells and makes profit on that bike too

Dealer gets to make double the profit on the same bike in year... not a bad business plan

Back in my day you used to have a cosigner and collateral to borrow money. What the hell happened? I can remember 18% interest for a loan and 13% interest for my savings account. Now it's 1/4% for savings and whatever for a loan. The bank can 😘 my rear end.

That's not even a deal, in my opinion, Yea, new bikes are high, but so is everything else in today's world, Dealers will start doing something better, if they have a lot of inventory, So will the MOCO, Look at auto's, as stated earlier, rebates, no interest for so many months, ect. Should become a buyer's market soon

This post makes the most sense so far. At age 65 my 2011 Road King gets the job done. Cheaper to repair and maintain as needed then save, spend or finance 25-30K on a new touring bike.
In addition, it still sounds like a Harley.

Oh I guess, but people have been saying that since the Israelites traded donkeys.

Most Harley owners want MOCO to be successful so that our used bikes hold their value, so that we have a parts and dealerships to fix our bikes, and so that we can buy the latest and greatest new bike down the road. A strong company today directly means a strong value of yesterdays bikes.

I got a pretty good deal on a low mile 14 limited that I intended to trade for a new bike. I felt the good deal on my trade in would give me a better deal on a new bike. But, the slump is killing that good deal I made on the 14. I may just have to stick with it. But, I will wait and see what MOCOs doing with the trades.

I don't think anyone is hoping they fail. I don't and I have not read that anywhere. That being said, I'm not going to overpay for a product simply to keep a business around and line the pockets of some CEO... For "Me" paying for and riding a new '17 isn't going to put any bigger smile on my face then riding my decked out paid for '09! (But that is me)...
