I'm guessing if I put the CAT back on my first reaction would start the thinking cycle all over..."what can I do to get rid of this heat?" -----"Well you can get a catless header" = back to square one LOL

BTW lived in Pgh for 8 years, good town.

They have two or three types that will fit most pipes.

These are your best advice so far - I had my V&H mufflers packed at a dealer one day into a 7-day trip - I couldn't stand the noise. This made a world of difference.

IMO, your issue is two-fold.... heat and noise. The CAT will exasperate the heat issue. Get a tunable exhaust. Or.... Keep your setup and wear a good set of ear plugs or inner ear plugs. Personally, I kept my existing tubes after the adding at catless header, added TT inserts to assist in lessening the volume and went with a good set of inner ear speakers. As long as I don't play my music too loud, I still hear my exhaust rumble, emergency vehicles and my ears don't ring after a long day's ride.

I have a 2011 Limited. Tuner FP3. Stock decated header. Twin slash duals V&H. I have looked at ways to manage the heat. I was really close to getting a set of fans mighty mites or love jugs or wards or whatever. I have the heat shields on the side of the seat. I read somewhere to remove the left one only. Creates a scoope effect and the seat "while moving" blows right out. My *** does not get hot anymore. On the FP3 you can monitor engine temp. Have dropped about 20 degrees. And over all comfort is much better. For slow or sitting still heat you might need the fans. Removing just one side is a bit weird cuz I have OCD and it just doesn't seem right. But. It works. Take care. BTW to try it is just two screws not a lot of effort goes into it. lol
