pull the codes from the ecm- you will be able to track down whether you have a throttle position sensor or servo motor problem.

suggest you start by pulling connector from servo motor and reattaching- that alone can clean the connections and solve the error.

as above eitms is programmed to come on with no throttle input and speed below ( i think) 3 mph..so like sitting stopped at an intersection.
this turns off fuel and spark to rear cylinder ( the hotter of the 2) and it will just pump air through to remove heat.

pretty smart when you live in the desert like I do.

it comes on once in a while, not often.

i'd rather have a goofy sounding idle than a toasted motor!

I just told you get some contact cleaner first start with the harness that plugs into the throttle body unplug it clean the contacts inspect the pins for damage put some dielectric grease on it and plug it back in.what I did was open everything up and did all the connections including the ecm I also loosened some tight zip ties with doing that my bike hasn't gone into limp mode since and that was 4 years ago

Are you sure it just did not go into limp mode?

Any codes. My 2010 did that once and it was the connection behind the air cleaner. Pulled it apart, cleaned, packed with dielectric grease and never had another problem.

Yep, definitely limp mode, should have lit up the the check engine light too, pull the codes and follow other posts advice for troubleshooting and repair.

If you google "Limp mode on a Harley" it will answer a lot of questions. Also a good video for 1.54 mins

Also, any recent electrical upgrades and/or do you have a tuner on the bike? These could be associated to your issue. If not, and you can't figure it out, get bike in for svs. Definitely a "butt-pucker" situation. ( )*( )

I've read the newer bikes like mine (2020 Fatboy) have eitms. But supposedly it is automatic and not throttle related? Is this a correct reading of what I can find online?

EITMS will not engage if bike is moving, so your issue was not EITMS. I’d check for codes, sounds like you went into limp mode.

It's enabled/disabled by rolling the throttle forward when stopped. Then it will come on as necessary, automatically, when you are stopped
