I take mine off for the summer because my wife says her left ankle get too hot from the exhaust once it starts getting warm out.

I leave my lowers on, mainly for the rain, but I take of the sliding door that rattles too much anyway. It allows the air to pass by the motor, and still provides some protection in the rain.

I was thinking about trying to remove the vents instead of removing the lowers. Are there any potential problem areas in the removal of vents? Tricky washer assembly, etc.?? Just looking at it, it seems to be a simple thing to do.

Just took my FLHTC in for the 1K service -- they gave me a new Ultra for a loaner. I noticed more heat around my legs with the lowers -- I was glad to get back on the EGC. I might add the slip-on covers for the winter, though.

I just installed a set of hogg chopps, not as wide as the HD units & IMO there more aero than the factory ones also. It gets into the 100's here alot during the summer with major frickin windstorms also. I will post my findings in a couple weeks, so far on the trip to Red River they worked great.

I use those little bungi cords to keep my vents fully open or closed.

I don't miss my pants creeping up my leg. and the cooldness looking for my skin.

It's funny, because us streetgliders put "ON " the lowers... while you ultras take them "OFF"!!!

Took mine off last week when the temps got in the high 80's.Rode to work yesterday morning in the fog and my shoes got soaked.I guess its a trade off between riding cooler and weather protection. They will go back on in the fall.

I've never had any problem with my vents staying open or closed on my lowers at any speed. I wonder if you need to tighten them a bit.

Yup,

Took mine off the other day..

There is not as much drag with them off...cooler on the legs...They will go back on in the winter.

I like both the looks..and yes, your pant legs do creep up a little with them off...but would rather be cooler than HOT.
