shines like the chrome on the uppers.
The uppers are not chrome, they are just polished to look like chrome.

You have to buy the chrome uppers seperate if you want them, I have a set sitting in the garage with my chrome forks...........just waiting to install them at some point.

I paid a guy 150.00 to polish my vtx1800 forks, they look as good as chrome when done correctly. Well worth the money.

WOW! $150,............ I did this to save money. Im sure a pro could have really done a great job with a buffer, but I was just trying be be a tight wad and improve the looks at the same time.

It's just not that big a deal polishing every now and then???? I am polishing the primary cover on my 06 softy, the good thing about alloy is you can polish scratches out but with chrome you just buy a new bit!! Polished alloy looks classier in my opinion! A mate just did his fork lowers and it looks great! Now I have to do mine, where's that wet and dry??

$150 for polishing a pair of lowers? For 150 bucks, you can buy a bench buffer, and the wheels/compounds to do it yourself. It isn't hard and doesn't take long. After you use a stripper to get off the clear, you can have the legs polished out to look like chrome in about an hour.

I polished the legs on my Ironhead, along with all of the other aluminum, over 10 years ago. They still look great. I might hit them with a bit of Mother's a couple of times a year to maintain them.

Twice a month to keep up the shine? I've polished several sets of forks and waxed after. They really only needed to be repolished with metal polish every couple of months on average, although getting caught in the rain may increase the care needed. The upkeep with semichrome or mag polish is not much worse than a wax job once the part has been polished. Nevertheless, when I rebuilt my forks, I did swap in some chrome lowers. Figured no better time than when they were already apart. Your forks look very good.
