Question about bad voltage regulator in 2012 touring
#31
Death and taxes are the only thing I am sure of!
But after the bike set for 24 hrs. today, I fired it
up before I went to check the stator ....charging
like a champ. So I am not going to go for the
third time is a charm.
I am off the get a VR from Cycle electric on fle-bay,
CE-608 ....$158.00............coop

I watched some YouTube videos about checking the stator. I put my meter leads into the holes in the plug that goes into the stator, it shows good continuity. I then put the black lead to ground, and put the red lead into each of the three holes in the plug, no reading which was good. To me then the stator is good, which is a relief because changing the stator would have been beyond my pay grade. My battery was tested as being good, so it has to be the voltage regulator. I just got the new one in the mail, should hopefully be good to go. When I get the new VR on I'll check the voltage again at the battery with the RPM's up, hopefully it won't go as high as 14.45. Thanks again for the feedback, and what the heck I've got more chrome now too.
Those checks ONLY verified your stator is not open or grounded...still need to verify A/C output to qualify it as a good stator and rotor!
