My VR just **** itself on my 2012 FLHTK. Same symptoms as said earlier, Ct engine, batt lite, low voltage on gauge. Then it would be ok for a while. Replaced with a Cycle electric from J and P Cycles. All good now.

mine started doing the intermittent thing late last May (2012 FLH). Took it into Dealer, it was defective, new one put in under warranty. Still frustrating, a part shouldn't fail that quick. Thankfully they aren't pricey or hard to put in if ya needed to in your home garage.

I agree, some have commented that they are on their third. I replaced with an HD one, and at $250 that's pricy enough imo. Not sure if there is much of a quality difference between the ones you can get on Amazon compared to the HD ones.

there is another brand of regulators/rectifiers that doesn't burn off the excess voltage as heat - can't remember the brand, but it's a quality product. Someone will come along and remind us of the name. If you aren't having good luck with the Harley brand, try theirs.

I don't know about the brand you speak of, but the one time I lost a VR, I replaced mine with a Cycle Electric... good company, good products...

Default I NEED A NEW rectimfinder ......

Lost charging ability for the second time today, 12 tri-glide.
Looks like it is gone for good this time.
Looking for a new VR, one on E-bay supposed to be harley
for $65+ and one for from Cycle electric for $158.
Cycle electric said it is rectified, are not all VR rectified?

I know Cycle electric is maybe better but 3 times MORE BETTER?

Maybe some have had good luck with the cheap eBay VR's, not sure, but to me I'd question the quality at that price. If it seems to good to be true it probably is.

The ones on E-bay are Chinese knock-offs. The real deal from HD will run you about $260. Get the one from Cycle Electric, good product with a two year warranty and made in the USA.

And you're sure it's the regulator because why?
