Default 140/70-18 Metzeler - anyone here using this on the front of their bagger?

I am tempted to put this on my 18 inch Airstrike wheel. Has anyone here have any feedback on this one?

140/70/18 is an interesting tire size. It calculates out to 25.7" tall, which is about a half inch taller than the stock 130/70/18. So not terribly tall, but there's a .25" taller sidewall to provide better rim protection and ride quality.

I have aftermarket Hogpro 18s on my 2010 Road King with 130/70 front, and 180/55 rear. The 180/55s are approx 25.8" tall, so they should be a good match for the 140/70, however with the 140/70 being a 1/2" taller you'd have to check to ensure there was ample clearance, should be OK though per the previous post.

Something for me to consider when I wear out my very new 18" American Elites.

Bigskyroadglide, how do those taller front tires ride/handle?

Hi all,

I use to run the Metzeler 140/70B-18 on a 2013 Street Glide wheel on my 99 RKC. I liked the fatter look and the little slower turn in on corners. I did have some trouble with cupping and I watched the air pressure pretty religiously too....goldie

ride is fine, plush almost, no issues, handling feels more solid, no clearance issues. the pirelli runs higher air pressure (50 psi cold) than the stock dunlop (40 psi cold)

ive got about 1k miles on the tire so far, can't say i have any regrets, seems like its going to be a good long term choice.

I had the Metzeler 140/70-18 880 on the front and loved it. Nice ride, good in the rain. Just replaced it and had to go with the 130/70-18 Metzeler 888 because they don't make the 140 in the 888 yet.

I don't really think I can tell the difference. Feels a little bit lighter turning, but Honestly I think I feel that way because when the guys at Hogpro (where I had the tire replaced) told me Metzeler didn't make the 140, they told me the only difference would be..."it'll feel a little lighter in slow maneuvers". Mind over matter!!

Looking at the tire you'd never be able to tell the difference in size.
