Who mounts tubeless tires on tubleless spoke rims?
#12
I love my spoke wheels. Nothing else will do, but I wanted the security and relative ease of flat repair of tubeless tires. The late model smoothie tubeless spoke wheels fit the bill
I had my local indy dismount and remount the tire after doing the work to make the 2015 wheel fit on my '06 Deluxe. He had never done one before, but said it was no big deal.
But I gotta ask, what kind of dealer have you got that shy's away from mounting a tire on a factory produced wheel? One that says "Just run a tube?"
Well, you can't run a tube on those wheels because they are designed to use the liner, which goes up onto the bead area to actually seal against the bead.
My advice....First and foremost, find a dealer or indy that knows what the hell they're doing.
Also use a new liner every tire change just like you would a tube.

That is useful information..... Back to the three dealerships that I mentioned were representatives at a golf charity raiser that was hosted by local riders club. I did not get into depth of shop talk as we were focusing on the charity & the event at the time.
I just brought this to the forefront to remove all possible doubts asking for guidance from enthusiast who is willing to share their experiences.
I'm sure it's a no brainer for some Buuuut it's my first time.
When it comes to tires/wheels/rims & brakes I'm all ears.

It appears these rims were not ordered much in 2012, thought they became more popular from 2014 to present, will wait it out for a straggler or two...

Ok Mike -The big question, how did you fit the 2015 wheels to your 06? I have a 2008 Road King with spoke wheels. After experiencing a puncture on the rear tire and the grief to fix it,I looked into going with the late wheels . The issue I saw was the wider rear wheel won't fit my RK. So,what's the work around?

Quick answer, that conversation was in Sept 2013, a few years back my memory sometimes deserves me, as I'm unable to decipher any logical explanation behind their comments.
Presently I just learned from you Mike, that the liner runs up to the bead and is sealed. Makes sense as this gives a protective barrier isolating any possible loose spokes from protruding into the inflated cavity of the tire.
I like to look, style, & relatively low maintenance of the profile lace chrome spoke rims. They have served me well, I'm approaching 14,000 miles never had a leak or flat. I'm just learning more about these rims as we speak, and believe if Harley can mount them at the factory, then it can be duplicated at the dealership. Will be talking in person to several this weekend.
