Why not just purchase the HD kit? Cost?
I did a whole lot of internet 'research' before I decided to 'modify' the HD kit to work on my 93 FLHS. If there is anything The MoCo got right, it is the electronic cruise control (of course it's a Delphi part). Mine holds with 1 mph, up/down, wind...You name it. I love it for the interstate runs.

tater...you are correct about MOCO not offering a kit anymore for MM bikes. i had a dealer do a search for a kit and could not find any on any dealer shelfs or in a obsolete parts warehouse he knew of. he did offer me ordering all parts individually and i told him to stop at around 700 bucks...

RE: cruise control for an 01
my friend at a dealership looked it up for me about a year ago and i told him to stop figuring when he got up to around 700 bucks....and that was IF he could get all the pieces. he got a hold of the intallation instructions off hdweb and it had a parts list but like i said....individually was very expensive. he told me it would be easier to just trade for an ultra..

RE: cruise control for an 01
Cruisemount's owner did my cruise control installationin November on my '04 Police model EG. Dave is a great guy and knows what he is doing.
Dave did not have a wiring harness for the police EG in his product line, but decided to use my bike as a prototype. He fabbed a wiring harness with untrimmed properly color-coded wires using the HD plug that goes into the cruise module. My job was to remove the gas tank, fairing, etc. and install the cruise module. He did all the wiring. He knew his stuff, was a pleasure to be around, and the installation has worked flawlessly since Nov. '06.
I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone interested in cruise control on a HD that is not covered by the cruise units currently offered by HD.
On my installation, the HD cruise control was purchased by me and Dave fabbed the wiring harness. As he trimmed the wires to length for the installation he took careful notes and many pics so that he could replicate the harness with the trimmed wire lengths for use in his kits. The harness/kit forpolice EG'sis now sold by him for $170. HTH
