I don't have highway pegs on my bike yet (coming up on 1000 mi.) but those look like they would have some advantages on long stretches of highway with no surprises. The heel part can be folded away or put in the front. Looks like something I'll be checking into shortly.

pegs and location really depends on inseam more than anything. I have a 32" inseam and I like my pegs low resting my heels on the floorboard and ball of my feet on the hiway pegs. I would try them.

DK offers some brackets that add a shifter peg as a heel support that I have looked at a couple times but haven't found I have had to have them yet.

I had these once and would not do them again. Weight and pressure on the heel part puts torque on the peg and twists (turns) it down.

It is all personal preference. Some folks love them, others hate them. There are even guys who mount little floorboards up there. I think it is more about mounting location than the peg itself. I get along ok with normal pegs but they are all I know...

I used something like that on my EVO softail. I couldn't get them adjusted to where the heal piece added any comfort. I'm sure they have some advantage because I see a lot of them. I just couldn't find it.

While the pegs are important, the peg mounts are the key because you have to find the right placement of the pegs to get comfortable. It's not just about inseam length, but also knee angle (bad knees), type of boots and if you have a back rest. So don't be afraid to find a good set of "adjustable" peg mounts.

I made the same point about getting comfortable in post #8. We have highway pegs on our Sportster (Mrs B and I both ride it) and went to the effort of sitting her on the bike while I measured up to see where her feet reach to, relative to the front crashbar. The answer was several inches short! So crashbar-mounted pegs were not promising and we chose engine-mounted adjustable ones instead.

Same here. I run the HD 360 degree adjustable peg mounts like in the link below. They are great and can be adjusted to any position.
