Stage I Upgrade

Stage I Upgrade
Hello all..
I bought an '06 Ultra last year and also the extended warranty package (just in case!). Since I bought it, it remained relatively stock; I've added foot pegs on the crash bars up front and other creature comforts. Now, however, after a recent trip to the Red River rally, I want to upgrade performance with a Stage I upgrade. I've already done this on my '98 Dyna (K&N Air Filter with V & H Straightshots) and was pretty simple and the bike runs really well now after I re-jetted the carb.
My question is this: Can I do all the work myself on this one too without violating/terminating the warranty? I would do the same basics as I did before - air filter and slip-ons along with a Power Commander or suitable substitute because of the EFI. I don't forsee any immediateproblems other than the warranty - any ideas out there..??
Thanks in advance...

OK, then what would you recommend for the EFI? A Power Commander, the one from V&H (TourPak is it?), a new burn from the dealership, etc?? I think I have decided on the Rinehart slip-ons but not really sure of what to do for electronics..

RE: Stage I Upgrade
For what it's worth, I just bought a stage 1 setup from Fuelmoto, lock, stock, and barrel. I went with a K&N air filter, Super Trapp SE mufflers, and a PCIII and Jamie at Fuelmoto programmed it for my set up and I did it in my garage in about 2 hours. The map for the PCIII is so close that I don't feel I need to have the bike dyno'ed. I would suggest calling Jamie and ask for his opinion, but for my money, I feel I saved about half of what it would have cost me at the dealer.

I was told if you look in hd catalog. Only exhaust and air with a green light . some have a yellow light which means some limitations on warrenty? Dont know about ecm mng but probably the same deal? Now if the dealer installs then the sky is the limit..if they agree? My dealer in pa is back and forth ,but Iwas at rossmyers in fl and he said he would warrenty anything(almost). He was a very nice person to speak with as well!

RE: Stage I Upgrade
I had the Stage 1 done last year, I put V&H ovals on last month and taking it in tomorrow to get it dinoed. I bought a SERT off of EBay and the mechanic said he would only use it, if it really needed another download. Mine runs cooler after I got 10,000 miles on it. I also changed to Mobil 1 V twin 20/50 in engine and primary and Redline Shockproof in trans. Recent trip with wife, 700 miles 50 mpg. But to answer your question, put the SERT or whatever on, when you change the air filter kit. That way you can change the program yourself with help from forum members, Dan
