Eleven years old and only one stone chip? Your either very lucky or you don't ride on interstates to often....
I personally would get a bottle of touch up paint and using a small paint brush, dap the paint in a little at a time to build up the chip. Once dried for a few day/week, wet sand the area LIGHTLY with like 1500/2000 sandpaper, polish to get the sanding marks/haze off and then a few coats of wax.

I would never get away with what HDV did. I just take the closest which to me is a shade lighter. Going darker makes it more noticeable. My numerous chips show just how thick the paint was in 2004. I just make sure it's dry and using a toothpick and a drop of paint in a lid, I drop a touch in just to hit the edge. It may take three or 4 applications but once it crowns, I leave it like that. I never get the touch up over the good paint.

I figure, someday, it may get perfect again but probably only when a fellow like HDV get it. Least, it has not rust spots.

Find an artistic auto or bike painter and have them paint you a splatted bug, $50.00, looks goods when you did it on purpose.

Neither my faring or lowers are perfect. Not horrible but not perfect. I just consider it proof that it's ridden...

When I use touch-up paint, I use a broken toothpick instead of a brush. Easier to get a small amount of paint just where you want it.

Some good advice above. Take you time and realize the best job will take time.

I suggest you also watch some of these professional touch up guys on You Tube. You can definately learn some tricks and get a better final result.

Or better yet, the end of a paper match torn out of a book of matches....
