Sorry to get you all worked up about it.

if you didn't find it humorous, let's just let it lay.

Don't really feel like getting in a pissing match. I've got a trip coming up tomorrow
Sorry about that, I didn't take it as a humorous post...most of the time you see those posts, it's ripping some igerant sumbitch!...I agree, don't wanna get in a pissing match, but I'm very, very mad at you...you get to go on a trip and I gotta stay and work!!!

But, I do hope you go to Ronnie's HD website and use their parts finder. They normally give ten percent discount on it, but...many dealerships do the same for their anointed customers! My parts folks...with the exception of the humorless manager...love seeing me come in cuz I generally have my **** tight, and I get what they go thru, since I've been behind a parts counter too...

Anyway, my friend, a thousand pardons for taking your original post the wrong way. You ride safe on your trip...

Still wondering how you are going to make it back by 5/20.

You as good with part numbers as dates?

(sorry, I thought that was funny).

Ride on.

I do not see at all from the OP original post where he treated the parts guy in a bad way. I would have said the same thing. It was actually a teachable moment for the parts guy. I bet he will never ask that question again.

Have a great ride!

God forbid that in this day and age you make someone feel uncomfortable, by razing them when they make a mistake....!! Sheeesh.

That used to be the rule rather than the exception. In my youth I was the recipient of several such retorts to stupid things I've said.... it certainly makes a teaching moment unforgettable!

You probably should have looked up the part number for a "we are all winners" trophy and bought one for the parts guy!

My late Great Uncle was the best at giving someone "The Eye". Kinda gnarly, yet quite effective when accompanied with the corresponding elevated brow.
Man He was good.
That's the only answer the parts guy needed from you.
He probably would have responded with "Yes Sir, I'll be right back with it", as He sulked away.

Going on 37 years ago I was a parts guy at a Ford dealership right out of high school. No computers, you had to find part numbers from diagrams and looking stuff up in big books. You also had to have "thick skin." Some mechanical knowledge was also required. Those days are long gone. I don't think most Harley parts guys even ride. I normally look up the part number and take it in with me. I shouldn't have to, but it's just easier for me and for them.
