I have a 2011 Ultra Classic TriGlide
When the Headlight is on Low Beam the Passing Lamps work.
When the Headlight is on High Beam the Passing Lamps DO NOT work.

I want the Passing Lamps to work on both Low and High beam.

What's the solution?

 

On my 2002 Ultra Classic, Harley offers a kit to make the aux lights work on high and low beam. It was simple plug and play. I am not sure if they offer it for a 2011 but its worth calling them. One of the best upgrade I have ever done for the money and effort.

Not sure when it started, but for at least the Rushmore bikes (2014+), dealer can flash the "brain" to allow both sets of lights at the same time. Don't know if that is what you need to do for your year. Someone here will likely chime in with the info, or just call a dealer, they'd be the ones doing the flash anyway, if your bike is set up for that.

 

The spotlight switch is powered off of the wire to the low beam. Find another source of ignition power and splice into there. I've done it with ease with my previous Street Glide, ended up splicing into my high beam wire instead. Get you a factory service manual to help you find a ignition power source. Pretty easy deal.

 

I made a mod on mine, spliced the spotlights into an unused power source in the headlight nacelle. I can't remember at the moment which wire I spliced into, but it was easy, took me about 15 minutes total. Most of that time was taking the headlamp off and reinstalling.

There's a way to wire it without this harness, but as inexpensive as the harness is, why mess with it.

 

I also installed this harness, works great. The only thing you will find is the acc switch in dash will be on at all times even when showing off. As log as ignition is on.

 

Gosh, this is such a simple fix, well documented.
No need for that harness.

That was a government thing, many of the states required the passing lamps to be wired into the low beam. Reminds me of many moons ago when the government made Harley have the headlights on at all times. There was a white wire you simply gut. Like others said, plenty of power leads up front just wire it to a switch.

 

Does the ACC switch light stay on if you rewire / splice (DIY) without using the HD wiring harness? Hope that makes sense...
