I have made many modifications to my TriGlide. And one of the rules I try to follow, is to do modifications as add ons...without modifying the factory harness. This may mean I have to run some extra wires, but, then if I ever have to revert, I can do easily...and it's back to stock. FWIW...I would not buy a used bike that someone has cut up the Factory harness.

*Bonus* - For those doing this mod and your touring bike does not have a fender tip light (Like Road Kings), there is an extra 12 volt wire not in use that is there for the fender tip light. I used it on my bike for 12 volt power to my Garmin Zumo GPS. While you are inside the nacelle, you might find use for that switched hot wire like I did. FYI.
