Opinions on lowering 2003 Road King Classic
I need some help..not looking for lowered versus non lowered opinions...I am lowering my bike..just want to here the pros/cons of the different scenarios. It has the stock bags. I am aware of the relocating brackets, I am aware of lower air shocks, I also have had people suggest putting on non air progressive 412's. That is what I am aware of for rear, the front I assume is just progresive set up, with shorter springs. Thanks in advance..I am having trouble with the search feature.

I used Progressive 440's one inch shorter on the rear with Progressive Springs set one inch lower in the front with a RaceTech Gold Valve.
I have an 03 classic as well....like the look, like the feel, like the ride, like the handling........watch the speed bumps.

I purchased TJ's Lowering Kit as it doesnt change the shock angle... tj-products.com
Have read in these forums that you do not benefit from the 440's in a 12" length, 12.5 or 13 is recommended.. which defeats the lowering. I would go with either a lowering kit or the progressive 412's at 12"

I have 11.5" 412's on the rear. I lowered the front 1" with progressive. It does not bottom or rub two up(200# & 115#)with luggage if you set preload high. It does ride a little rougher and handling is pretty much the same, but you will notice a little difference on tight corners. AND if you like corners, your boards will scrape a little sooner. If I did it over again I would probably keep the stock rear air and buy the adapter to drop the rear 1"(I may do that yet this winter). I think the difference in handling on tight corners may be the 1/2" difference between the back and front, the back being 1/2" lower.
