Mystery Squeak diagnosis assistance
Just got it from covering approx 445 miles today
Kinda hot, low 80s. ride was a mixture of slow speed riding for 140 plus miles, high speed freeway jaunt for 70 miles, a side detour for 60 or so miles then 30 or so miles in stop and go road construction cones with lots of merging to form a single lane, then 100 miles to catch a familiar road that would lead me 45 miles home
during road construction bike went into heat mgmt 3 times.
so after getting to an exit and heading out cross country to find a familar road, i stopped for gas.
at idle in gear with clutch pulled in bike is making a high pitched continuous squeaking noise, in neutral with clutch in or out bike is making a squeaking noise.
in gear rolling through gears 1 through 3 i can hear the squeaking noise after 3, cant hear anything.
got home, after about 140 miles, no squeaking. it seems when bike cooled down a bit, the squeak stopped. or went away. perhaps im just deaf and can't hear it anymore.
anyway, thoughts or opinions? i have mine (compensator) or heat shield rubbing. but others?
bike is 2010 road glide. 96, new andrews 48 cams last year, new lifters last year, fp3. true duals and cobra slip ons, ventilator air cleaner 29k miles, on mechanical 27 since 2015. 2nd owner, bought with 2 k miles in 2015.
run synethic oil, hd filter, straight 40 weigh in primary, 85 140 in tranny.
bike has never had a mechanical since ownership except for cams. cam shoes replaced with cams. cam bearings replaced as well. adjustable push rods.
bike was slow to start in heat today. battery is 3 years old. and will whip the engine when cool. bike fires first time, every time.
again thoughts?

I've got nothing without being there but if it was an Indy that did your mods I would consult him. Other than that I sure do admire your idea of a day trip. Reminds me of well, ME!!!!
I have an 08 Road Glide, 96 (01 Road King as well) and wanting to do a cam job to it as it is gutless compared to my Road King.

Mine did the same and I found that the one rubber mount was slightly smaller than the other side and allowed a small amount of play. I put a wrap of electrical tape around it so it fit tight and the squeak (along with a slight rattle) went away.
