FLHRI Police question
First of all, HELLO to ALL OF YOU GOOD FOLKS !!!!!!!!
New member, been riding 25 years, first Harley - 2006 Road King Police ABS, privately owned by LEO. Purchased with 2000 miles for $14,000.
I am LOVING IT!!!!!!
Here is my question: I can't find replacement levers for my RK anywhere. Supposedly because of the fact that there is a switch involved (whre you have to squeese the clutch in order to start).
Does anyone have any luck withlevers?
Any other police specific info is also welcome.
Thanks!!!!

RE: FLHRI Police question
Welcome to the forums and congrats on your new ride!
Interesting ... I know the 2007 models have the switch so you can't start it (if it is NOT in neutral) unless you squeeze in the clutch. I wasn't aware the '06 models had this feature (maybe the police edition is different).
I would ask at the dealership. I would assume (not good to do sometimes) if you have that safety switch on your bike then you could easily use the '07 levers which also use this feature. Parts guys are really good. If they aren't sure stroll over to the service department and they have some good ones there that would be able to answer your question for sure.

Also you may want to take a look at the 07 RK handles. They have the switch also.

RE: FLHRI Police question
I have a 2000 FLHTPi and need to pull the clutch in to start it. I was aware that other clutch levers would not fit, but now I think I know why. Why is it that you are looking for adifferent one? Knowing I could not just go buy nice chrome ones for mine I had the orginal one powder coated. Cost me $5 each for clutch and brake lever. They look great and the powder coating is very durable.

RE: FLHRI Police question
I have an '04 police EG, FLHTPI that came with the same clutch interlock as others have mentioned. You can eliminate the clutch interlock by simply splicing together the two wires that are seperated electricallyby the switch. The splice bypasses the lever's interlock switch. On my EG, these were located in a Deutch connector for the lefthand handlebar switches.
According to the wiring diagram in my HD '04 Police model service manual, the wires on the RK police bike are Black/red wires in slots 7 and8 in connector 24B which I assume is inside the nacelle.
To switch levers, seperate the left hand switch housing and remove the interlock switch; it's been a while since I did this but I recall it is a rubber booted switch like thefront brake light switch on the right handlebarlever/housing.
HTH. And good luck with the '06 FLHPI.
Strongly recommend you purchase the civilian and police HD Service Manuals. The police sm has very little in it, except for the wiring diagrams which have been invaluable to me with all of the electrical mods I've done.
